Plinky Question of the Day

plinkybanner

The Plinky Question of the Day is a weekly feature I added to the blog to get to know you guys better and vice versa. Sometimes the questions will deal with books or reading but, most of the time they won’t. Because, let’s face it, there’s more to us than what we read.

Share the most dangerous thing you’ve ever done for fun.

A week ago I would have said sky diving but, since my friend’s husband pulled the plug on our little death defying adventure, I’ll have to go with snorkeling in the Florida Keys with my Dad.

snorkeling

Before you ask, nope that’s not a picture of us.  I don’t think we have any so I had to you use a generic Florida Keys snorkeling picture.  In our defense my sister and I were both on the younger end of the age scale and Pops had the two of us to worry about so I’m sure taking pictures wasn’t at the forefront of his mind.  But, I digress.  I know, I know snorkeling doesn’t sound very dangerous but, I assure you my friends it is.  Especially if you’re doing it out in the middle of the ocean where other boats can easily run your ass over or if you come face to face with a fish that would happily much on you like a Slim Jim (beef jerky for those of you not familiar with the “Macho Man” Randy Savage commercials, may he RIP btw) like that one time I came face to face with a barracuda.  *shivers*  Have no fear.  I walked (or swam) away with all my appendages intact.  There’s also the minor detail of you not being the top of the food chain thing.  Don’t get me wrong.  It’s a very fun activity to participate in but, you have to be careful and vigilant while you’re doing it.

How about you guys?  What’s the most dangerous thing you’ve ever done for fun.

  1. Does taking pictures while driving 70mph count? I've done that plenty of times. Otherwise I fail at doing dangerous things for fun.

  2. LMAO! That definitely qualifies as dangerous. Pull over woman! I don't want you hurting yourself because of a picture.

  3. But then I wouldn't get cool pictures like this: https://flashesofhappiness.wordpress.com/2010/06/28/62-of-101/ ;)

  4. I think the most consciously dangerous thing I did was compete in a Tough-Man boxing competition. I won and only had a black eye after the fact, but so many people get seriously injured during these kinds of events. It was also the funnest thing I ever did!!

Good reading ~ Escape by Fiction :)

  5. @Amanda - The sunbeams are quite beautiful. But still...

    @Escape by Fiction - O_o
Wow! I totally bow down. I take kickboxing classes but, I'd never consider doing something where I actually got hit in the face. You my dear are bad ass.

  6. I snorkeled down near the Dry Tortugas park and there's a sunken ship, which is an awesome place to see ocean life. However, I will never forget coming face to face with a Goliath Grouper about the size of a small elephant. I think my underwater scream awakened Poseidon himself. However, the fish coulda cared less about me, but still...

I can't think about a dangerous event right now. It's too damn early on a Sunday...damn cats woke me up. *grumble*

  7. @Smash - LOL! I know a thing or two about underwater screams. Sounds like you had a lot of fun though.

    Oh those silly cats...

  8. When it comes to the ocean I'm the biggest wimp. You sure are brave Jen.

  9. We do wild and crazy things when we're little kids. You won't catch me snorkeling in the middle of the ocean these days.

  10. I'm a wimp...there now you know. I've been snorkling but it was in Hawaii and it wasn't dangerous just saw beautiful tropical fish. I do drive 70mph but keep both hands on the wheel. I guess the most dangerous thing I've ever done for fun would be to have two Margaritas at a cocktail party while trying to fend off the advances of Derick Houghtaling.

  11. What an excellent question!

    *scratching chin*

Many years ago (when I was young and fearless) I rode on the back of a Harley. Now here comes the dangerous part, I wrapped my legs around the waist of the driver (a bf at the time) and outstretched my arms on the air. It was the most beautiful freeing thing but in retrospect totally unsafe since I really didn't have a grip on him.

  12. @Dot - LOL...it takes a tough cookie to fend off unwanted advances my friend. ;-)

@Juju - That is quite fearless of you my dear. That's definitely something I probably could never work up the courage to do. Sounds fun though.

  13. I've never snorkeled but it looks like fun. Me? The most dangerous? Nothing. I can't say that I have done anything remotely dangerous in the name of fun. Wow. How exciting am I? ;)

  14. Oh Julie. You're so silly sometimes. Just because you don't do anything dangerous for fun doesn't mean you're not exciting. Besides that whole balloon animal thing is kind of risky. ;)

  15. Hmmm...what a good question. I snorkled off the coast of Hawaii. I've been on tons of planes for traveling, I've been to several theme parks and rode all of the roller coasters...do all of these things count as dangerous?! You won't catch me bungee jumping or sky diving or swimming with sharks EVER. Oh and I've done the riding on a back of the motorcycle before...that's fun. :-D
