Plinky Question of the Day

The Plinky Question of the Day is a weekly feature I added to the blog to get to know you guys better and vice versa. Sometimes the questions will deal with books or reading but, most of the time they won’t. Because, let’s face it, there’s more to us than what we read.

What are the first things you notice about people you just met?

I thought this was a pretty interesting question so I thought I’d throw it out there.  When I meet someone for the first time I usually notice the following 3 things and usually in the order I’m about to list them:

They say the eyes are the windows to the soul and I believe that to be true.  You can perfect your poker face but, you’re eyes never lie.

I don’t care about whether they’re straight or how bright they are.  What I’m more interested in is if that smile is genuine and given easily to strangers.  It’s one of the easiest things you can do to spread a little positivity.

Interaction with Others
Are you big on please and thank you?  Do you offer a helping hand to someone who’s in need?  Willing to go out of your way even if it’s not convenient for you?  If the answers are yes then I’m pleased to meet your acquaintance.

What about you guys?  What are some of the first things you notice about people you’ve just meet?

  1. Eyes, definitely. I love eyes -- the colors, the expressions. I also notice people's voices -- especially if they have accent, because I love accents and usually try to place them.

    I have to agree with you about interaction with others (and I would include myself in that others). It gives you a good indication of who they are and whether they're worth your time.

    Great question!

  2. I'm so with you on that.
    For me:
    Face, eyes, and personality/way they carry themselves.

  3. It's all in the face....unless there are taller then me. :)

  4. Hi there! Definitely the mouth and eyes. They tell me everything I need to know.

  5. @Amanda - I like accents too. Thanks!

    @Juju - I agree with you on personality.

    @Jen - LOL!

    @Zee - Hey there stranger. Mouth is definitely important too.

  6. I think you and me are on the exact same page! I notice what you said. :)

  7. Love your's Jen! For me it depends on male or female. For guys the first thing I notice are arms (I am a sucker for nice arms) then eyes and a smile. I agree with you on the smile, they don't have to be perfect movie star teeth just that the smile is big and genuine. For females I normally check out the outfit first because that normally tells you a lot about a person (of course, you can't always judge a book by it's cover right?!). Then I'm really big on the pleases, thank you's, yes sir, yes ma'am's and just being out going and sure of yourself. I like people that are confident with themselves and their personalities and they aren't afriad to let others get to know them.

  8. @Julie - =) Great minds I tell ya.

    @D - Oh that's a great point D. Confidence is definitely important.
