Plinky Question of the Day

plinkybanner

The Plinky Question of the Day is a weekly feature I added to the blog to get to know you guys better and vice versa. Sometimes the questions will deal with books or reading but, most of the time they won’t. Because, let’s face it, there’s more to us than what we read.

What’s your favorite summertime sound?

Let’s see…

…the sizzle of the grill

…the clinking of ice in a glass filled with fresh squeezed lemonade

…the excited shriek of kids running through a sprinkler or jumping into a pool

and…

Summertime by DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince

Wouldn't It Be Nice by The Beach Boys

What are your favorite summertime sounds?

  1. This is a tough one. Hmmm.

Oh, DUH. Got it. My favorite sound of the summer is thunder storms and rain. But only if I don't have to be outside in them.

  2. That's a good one. I completely overlooked it. And agreed...definitely not fun being stuck in one.

    Thanks for stopping by!

  3. I almost overlooked it, too, and had started to list other sounds, but honestly, I look forward to thunder storms and miss them in the winter. :)

Also, I got stuck in a complete deluge of rain on Friday. It was terrible. It was raining so hard there was water spewing out of a man hole cover on the street. I got soaked. Before I had to teach. So I taught slightly wet and barefoot. Ha. At least my students were forgiving.

  4. Sorry to hear that! I'm okay with getting most parts of me wet with the exception of my feet. Wet shoes drive me over the edge. How about some cute galoshes as a birthday wish list item. ;) I've been thinkin' of investing in a pair myself.

  5. I bought rain boots this spring for walking through all the slushy snow when it was melting, lol. I honestly didn't think the rain was going to be as bad as it was. I was totally squish-squishing with my shoes once I got inside.

  6. Noooo! Not the squish-squishy feet. *shivers*

  7. We don't have a lot of thunder and lighting in the summer...or even rain here in California. We mostly just have people lighting fires in the summer. I do love the smell of a camp fire, just not the smell of the forest going up in flames.

  8. That's another good one. Agreed. Camp fire smell - good. Forest fire smell - not so much. Thanks for stoppin' by!

  9. I was recently asked this question at AlitaReads and answered: Summertime by DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince too. I LOVE that song. So happy and jammy.

  10. Great minds, eh. ;-) There's just something about those songs that automatically put me in summer mode.

    Thanks for stopping by!

  11. I also enjoy the sound of Thunderstorms in the summer, unfortunatly my dog Joe does not agree and is now giving me a death stare. :-P I love the songs you picked, Beach Boys is one of my favorites! Another sounds I love is the wind whipping in my open window while driving down the road. Now summer isn't my favorite season so that's about all you'll get out of me. :-P

  12. Thanks an excellent pick D. It's another one I totally overlooked. Nothing says summer like driving with the top down or all the windows open. LOL! It's not? Which is your fave?

  13. Ah-h-h the Beach Boys are synonymous with summer but the sound that always means summer to me is the Ice cream truck.

The rain discussion reminds me of catching raindrops on my tongue as I ran barefoot in the lawn. Actually I did this as a kid and would still do it if I had some company to runaround with.

  14. Man, I can't believe I forgot about the dang ice cream truck. That is pretty synonymous with summer.

I would totally run barefoot with you catching raindrops on my tongue. ;-)

  15. Who doesn't love the Fresh Prince?!?! And I really enjoy the sound of the summer monsoons.

  16. My favorite summer sound...is the sound of leave falling because that means it's over. Summer is no fun because I am a little a lot afraid of storms and the heat is a killer. Seriously, we go from -35 in winter to +40 in summer. Too much! But I'm not venting... ;)

  17. I can totally relate to not liking the heat. It gets pretty bad down here too. Espcially with the humidity. Bleh!

  18. @heavenisabookstore - I have no idea but, if you find someone who doesn't you need to point me in their direction.
