Plinky Question of the Day

plinkybanner

The Plinky Question of the Day is a weekly feature I added to the blog to get to know you guys better and vice versa. Sometimes the questions will deal with books or reading but, most of the time they won’t. Because, let’s face it, there’s more to us than what we read.

What unusual food combination is surprisingly tasty?

Since I’m a fan of eating, I figured I’d go with with a food question today.  I don’t know that my picks are unusual per say but, I don’t think everyone’s a fan.  Some of my favorite unusual food combinations that are tasty ( at least to me) are:

Peanut Butter and Banana sandwiches

PB and Banana sandwich

True story.  I learned about peanut butter and banana sandwiches from the Mickey Mouse Club.  That would be the one from the 90’s not the one from the 50’s.  ;-)

Popcorn and Sno Caps

Popcorn  sno caps

I think I learned about his combo during after school care in the 4th or 5th grade.  Amazing the stuff that sticks with you, huh.  They stopped selling sno caps in theaters for a while so when I saw them make a return at the concession counter I damn near did a happy dance.  It’s the little things people.  Okay so perhaps chocolate and popcorn eaten at the same time isn’t unusual.  I figured I’d include it because of the texture of the sno caps.

McDonalds French Fries and Vanilla Ice Cream

mcdonalds french fries  mcdonalds vanilla ice cream

Okay so back when I was in high school, we used to do this thing where we would dip our McDonalds french fries into their vanilla ice cream.  Yes, I know it sounds disgusting but, it’s actually quite tasty.  Don’t knock it ‘till you try it people.

This inquiring mind wants to know what are some of your favorite unusual food combos?

  1. I like peanut butter and honey sandwiches. I can't think of any unusual food combinations that I like, though. #fail

  2. Ohhh! Peanut Butter and Banana is the BOMB! I also love Peanut Butter and Honey. :)

I love mixing popcorn and Sourpatch Kids. SO good! You and I should go to a movie so I can do this without Todd making me feel guilty. :)

  3. @Juju - Woot woot. *high five*

@Amanda - Interesting. I don't think I've ever thought of putting those two together.

@Smash - Popcorn and sour patch kids? That's hella interesting. Oh Todd. Why can't the girl just eat her popcorn and sour patch kids in peace. *sigh* It's a date missy!

  4. Ya we take York Peppermint Patties to the movies and have that with our $30 popcorn. It sounds gross, but it's a treat.

  5. Ok ....I like dill pickles and white rice as a combo....or green olives and white rice. What ya think?

Oh another one is spam with mac and cheese - though I don't think that's very odd.

  6. Fun question! I also am a fan of peanut butter and honey, but I think my daughter was the one to introduce me to the combo.

Going back to middle school days I liked drinking my soda using red licorice as a straw.

I also like the popcorn mixed with chocolate idea but I usually add garlic salt and a spice mixture to mine.

  7. @Jen - LMAO! I love York peppermint parties! I gotta try that combo next I go to the movies.

@Pabkins - That olive/pickle/rice combo definitely constitutes unusual. Not a fan of pickles or olives so I'll take your word for it. ;-)

@Lucy - I gotta try this peanut butter and honey combo everyone keeps talking about. LOL! The red licorce and soda combo reminds me of that urban legend with the pop rocks. That garlic salt and spices topping sounds interesting. I'll have to remember to ask you for the recipe.

  8. I am the QUEEN of unsual food combinations! :-P

-Regular potato chips (ruffels) and ketchup
    -Grapes dipped in Peanut Butter
    -Cooler Ranch Doritos and Spagetti-o's
-Black beans, brown rice, peas and salsa
    -White rice and BBQ Sauce
    -Mac and Cheese with Ketchup
-Ranch Dressing with ANY kind of hotpocket!
-Black beans, peas and salsa placed in a tortilla

Those are all the things I can think of right off the top of my head...I'm sure there are a lot more because my family is constantly telling me that one of my combinations is gross or strange. LOL. :-)

    Fun question!
