Plinky Question of the Day

nnir_banner_plink

The Plinky Question of the Day is a weekly feature I added to the blog to get to know you guys better and vice versa.  Sometimes the questions will deal with books or reading but, most of the time they won’t.  Because, let’s face it, there’s more to us than what we read.

When was the last time you asked yourself, "What was I thinking?!"

This question was super easy to figure out.  The last time I asked myself, “What I was thinking?!” was when I decided to participate in Tough Mudder.  Here’s the description of the event from their website:

Tough Mudder events are hardcore 10-12 mile obstacle courses designed by British Special Forces to test your all around strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie. As the leading company in the booming obstacle course industry, Tough Mudder has already challenged half a million inspiring participants worldwide and raised more than $2 million dollars for the Wounded Warrior Project. But Tough Mudder is more than an event, it’s a way of thinking. By running a Tough Mudder challenge, you’ll unlock a true sense of accomplishment, have a great time, and discover a camaraderie with your fellow participants that’s experienced all too rarely these days.

Hands down, it was the most terrifying and exciting thing I’ve ever done.  Here are some pics I managed to find.  If I can find the rest I’ll definitely be updating the post later.

Team Picture

(Isn’t cute how we’re all smiley and unsuspecting)

Here Goes Nothing
Entering the obstacle known as the Arctic Enema
(it’s basically a huge, lined dumpster filled with water and a shit ton of ice)

Ice Bath
Exiting the Artic Enema
(That look on my face is the look of pain my friends)

Underwater Barrels
Getting ready to tackle the obstacle known as the Underwater Tunnels
(you basically need to dive under those barrels and make your way to the other side)

Are We There Yet
Coming out of the water after the Underwater Tunnels
(I do believe I was just starting to feel my body again after the Artic Enema)

We Made It!
We made it!  Barely!

There you have it.  Some visual proof of the last time I thought to myself, “What was I thinking?!”.

How about you guys?  When’s the last time you asked yourself, “What was I thinking?!”

  1. I've been asking myself this a lot lately with teaching. But that's what tough weeks will do to you, I guess.

  2. That's awesome that you finished. I want to see more photos. I would have given them the middle finger and then hit up Starbucks.

I leave the house with out deodorant like all the time, that would be my What Was I Thinking Moment.

  3. @Amanda - I guess but, then there are the days where it's totally rewarding, right?

@Jen - LOL! True story: That used to happen to me all the time so now I have deodorant in my car AND at work.

  5. Whoa. You go girl!

Right before I went into my cesarean, I remember thinking, "I'm scared. What was I thinking?" Of course it all worked out and it was worth it.

  6. @Smash - Thanks chica!

@Juju - I think your fear is totally valid. I'm sure you can't even remember how scared you were when you look into mini Juju's adorable little face.
