Plinky Question of the Day

The Plinky Question of the Day is a weekly feature I added to the blog to get to know you guys better and vice versa.  Sometimes the questions will deal with books or reading but, most of the time they won’t.  Because, let’s face it, there’s more to us than what we read.

What's your favorite foreign film?

Welcome back party people!  Apologies to those who have been missing the Plinky Question of the Day.  Life got hectic (as it sometimes does) and the feature kind of slipped through the cracks.  But alas, it’s back.  I figured I’d ease into it with an easy question this week.  One of my all time favorite foreign films is:

Le Pact Des Loups
(Brotherhood of the Wolf)

Le Pacte Des Loups Brotherhood of the Wolf

Here’s why:

  • It has amazing action sequences.

Brotherhood of the Wolf 2

  • It includes some really kick ass actors/actresses.

Monica Bellucci Vincent Cassel
(Monica Bellucci and Vincent Cassel)

  • And it’s a werewolf mystery!

I mean seriously?!  How could I resist checking this flick out?  Seeing as how I have a feeling your interest is now piqued I decided to throw in the trailer.

What are some of your favorite foreign films?

  1. Oh! I loved Das Leben Der Anderen (The Life of Others). It's so haunting. It was popular when I was in Germany, and I bought it while I was there. No English subtitles! I bet I wouldn't be able to understand it now. lol.

I also like the Swedish "the girl with..." trilogy movies. I haven't seen the American version yet.

The French also have good movies, though other than Amelie, I can't think of any.

  2. @Amanda - Nice to see a familiar face. ;-) I'll have to check out Das Leben Der Anderen (with subtitles of course). My sister saw the Swedish versions of "The Girl with..." trilogy and she said they were excellent. I think I rented Amelie once but never got around to watching it. *shrugs*

  3. I loved the Matrix.....wait, wrong country. I did enjoy that movie with the people flying around the roof tops with long swords. I have yet to watch the Girl with, need to though.

  4. @Jen - LMAO! You mean Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon? I really liked that one too.

  5. I've wanted to see this. I love Vincent Cassel. One of my favorites with him is Hate, a French film he did with Mathieu Kassovitz (another one of my favs).

  6. @Lee - Ah yes, La Haine. Such a good movie. I haven't seen it in forever.
