Random Movie Quote Sundays

Mugatu: Who cares about Derek Zoolander anyway? The man has only one look for Christ's sake! Blue Steel? Ferrari? Le Tigra? They're the same face! Doesn't anybody notice this? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!

Best Marriage Proposal EVER!

Plinky Question of the Day

The Plinky Question of the Day is a weekly feature I added to the blog to get to know you guys better and vice versa.  Sometimes the questions will deal with books or reading but, most of the time they won’t.  Because, let’s face it, there’s more to us than what we read.

Name a song that always puts you in a good mood.

Hmm.  It’s a toss up between these two songs:

Break My Stride by Matthew Wilder

Sure it’s got weird lyrics but, when the chorus kicks in I feel like I can conquer the day.

Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves

It is guaranteed that I will be out of my seat dancing like a fool within 3 seconds of this song starting to play.

How about you guys?  What songs put you in a good mood?

#BoutofBooks 4.0 Wrap Up & Giveaway Winner!

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon

In true Jen fashion, this post is going up a little late and by a little I mean a lot.  *shrugs*  Better late than never right?  Right!  Okay so let’s see how I did with this round of Bout of Books:

  • Attempting to complete AT LEAST 1 book    DONESKIS!
  • Meet, visit and support as many read-a-thoners as possible    I wish I could’ve met a few more of you but, I think I did a decent job.
  • Participate in AT LEAST 1 Twitter Chat    Does 3/4 of a chat count?
  • As an added bonus I managed to finish all my daily updates.  Yes, I know that doesn’t seem like much of a goal but, during the last read-a-thon I couldn’t even manage doing that.

Not too shabby if I do say so myself.

On to the giveaway winner announcement.  The winner of my super easy peasy lemon squeezy Bout of Books 4.0 giveaway is….

I’ll send a confirmation e-mail shortly.

I’d like to take a second to thank Amanda, Kelly, Shirley and Hannah for all their hard work putting this little shindig together.  You ladies did an amazing job!  *high fives all around*

Plinky Question of the Day

The Plinky Question of the Day is a weekly feature I added to the blog to get to know you guys better and vice versa.  Sometimes the questions will deal with books or reading but, most of the time they won’t.  Because, let’s face it, there’s more to us than what we read.

Have you ever wanted to build your own house? What would it look like?

I don’t know anyone who would answer no to this question.  Although I don’t know exactly what my dream house would look like, there are definitely certain features it HAS TO HAVE.  Such as…

Reading Area

Reading Nook ReadingNook

via R. Brad Knipstein Photography

via Belle Vivir

Porch Swing

via The Forest Feast

via Pinterest

Backyard Gathering Area

Backyard Outdoor Hangout
via Pinterest

via Lowe’s website

Don’t get me wrong.  Bathrooms, closets and kitchens are important too.  I find that the style of those rooms change a lot in my mind’s eye.  However, these three areas tend to stay the same.  So those are the three I decided to showcase.

But enough about me.  If you had the chance to build your house what would it look like?

Bout of Books 4.0 Goals and Info (#boutofbooks)

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon

Another round of Bout of Books is upon us my friends and I’m quite excited.  I’ve participated in the first 3 with varying degrees of success (or failure).  Whichever side of the fence I managed to land on I still had a lot of fun and met a lot of cool peeps.  Next week will be crazy busy for me but, I’m going to try to get as much reading in as possible.  Even if that means ignoring my boyfriend for a week.  (Sorry honey!)

Some of my goals include:

  • Attempting to complete AT LEAST 1 book
  • Meet, visit and support as many read-a-thoners as possible
  • Participate in AT LEAST 1 Twitter Chat

Yeah, I know.  It’s a short list but, I hate setting the bar so high that I end up face planting.

Books I’m hoping to finish:

Hunting the Shadows  In the Path of Falling Objects  Plague Town

Hope to see you there.  I promise it’ll be fun.

Movie Trailer Mondays: Dark Shadows

Not sure if this is staying true to the soap opera but, the movie looks hilarious.  Wait…I don’t think soap operas are suppose to be funny.  *shrugs*  Oh well, it’s Johnny Depp so I’ll more than likely go to see it.

Random Movie Quote Sundays

Mona Lisa Vito:  Whoa. You're gonna shoot a deer?

Vinny Gambini:  I don't know. I suppose. I mean, I'm a man's man, I could go deer hunting.

Mona Lisa Vito:  A sweet, innocent, harmless, leaf-eating, doe-eyed little deer.

Vinny Gambini:  Hey Lisa, I'm not gonna go out there just to wimp out, you know. I mean, the guy will lose respect for me, would you rather have that?

[Lisa gets up, walks over to the bathroom and shuts the door]

Vinny Gambini:  What about these pants I got on, you think they're O.K.?

[Looks down]

Vinny Gambini:  Oh!

Mona Lisa Vito:  [comes out of the bathroom]  Imagine you're a deer. You're prancing along, you get thirsty, you spot a little brook, you put your little deer lips down to the cool clear water... BAM! A fuckin' bullet rips off part of your head! Your brains are laying on the ground in little bloody pieces! Now I ask ya. Would you give a fuck what kind of pants the son of a bitch who shot you was wearing?

-Vinny Gambini and Mona Lisa Vito, My Cousin Vinny

What's your favorite fried food indulgence?

This one’s a tie between my sister Jess’ fried chicken…

Fried Chicken

and my Mom’s maduros (fried ripe plantain)…

*Please note these are not actual pictures of their food.  For some reason I never thought to snap a picture.*
